“When God grants authority to a leader he also grants him wisdom. And I think that the Head of State’s speech was very timely. Some of us were very worried that as a father he needs to speak to us. It was an appropriate time which he chose and it coincided with the National Day. This is an opportunity for some leading congregations to know that in everything in life we got time and when the time comes we should speak. The points he raised were very pertinent. There was also this aspect of appreciations which were given to religious authorities for their resilience. Our mosques within the region have been shut down because of the inability for faithful to respect simple hygiene and social distancing conditions put in place by the State. It is a very painful decision but life first of all is very important. So, one cannot worship Allah when he/she is dead. So we need to be alive to worship Allah. I think that his speech was very timely and we will continuously pray for the COVID-19 situation.”
