“I saw in him passion for Cameroon and love for his people. Like he puts it that it was with reluctance that he took the important decision to cancel National Day manifestations. Yet, given the place of health to all of us, he had to do it. He had called upon us to remain steadfast in applying the barrier measures. Difficult they may be but we have to apply them for our common good. He reminded us that with all of this the economy is suffering and so we have to buckle up. By and large, I think it was a very symbolic speech that he came out unusually on the eve of National Day to talk to us given this particular context of COVID-19. At our own level, the policies that he had defined in that speech will be implemented so that the country remains strong.”
