New City Council SG vows to make Bamenda a better place to be.

By Etoh Anzah George in Bamenda

The quintessence of restructuring and attainment of administrative goals for a given society is the choice of administrators .This is the cornerstone as to what took place at the premises of the Bamenda City Council as the newly appointed Secretary General Mr Mbah Mbole Pius Ntumbo was commissioned. Appointed on July 15 2019 by a presidential decree, the new secretary general who takes over from Mr Jude Waindim has diverse duties to uphold and ascertain. He is charged with the smooth functioning of the city council; assisting goverment delegate in implementing city council policy; coordinating and moderating actions of all departments of the city council; ensuring warm reception of the city council; representing government delegate in internal and external meetings and ascertaining serenity in the treatment of all files, amongst others. While underlining the diverse roles and functions that await him in a metropolitan town, the government delegate to the Bamenda City Council, Mr Ndumu Vincent Nji, further urged him to know Bamenda is not only the divisional but equally the regional capital of the North West region. As such, there exist a bulk of responsibilities that await him.  The new city scribe has served in diverse capacities:

1993-1995:  Head of department of Guidance and counselling GHS Mamfe,

1995-1997: Sub provincial chief of bureau for planning and orientation of scholarship.

1997-1999:Head of department of Guidance and counselling GHS Bombe

1999-2004: Senior Counsellor at provincial delegation for national education SW

2004-2005: Provincial chief of service for personnel, salaries and judiciary affairs North West Province

2005-2006 Provincial chief of service for personnel, salaries North West province

2006-18 June 2019 Senior Trainer at the local government training center CEFAM Buea.

He therefore has a daunting task to keep the flame alive and even much brighter.

While presiding over the installation ceremony, the government delegate to the Bamenda City Council, Mr Vincent Ndumu, referred to him as a devoted and attentive person with a proper mastery of issues in his services and responsibilities.

Born in Awing village of the North West on 15/03/1965 and a father of 4, the seasoned professional who counts a masters 1 and 2 degree from the university of Douala is faced with diverse challenges that is: the growing threats on workers of most public institutions by presumed separatist fighters; the tarring and repairs of some major roads and most especially waste control and management and the multiple ghost towns and threats to partner institutions like HYSACAM who have lost some of her trucks to looting by suspected separatist fighters.

To all these, it should be noted, he acknowledged the over demanding facet of the office and pledged his unquenching thirst for a transformation.

Talking to The Horizon Newapaper shortly after the installation he said he is set to continue in the right footing of his predecessors in first of all ascertaining a work-friendly environment for all council workers."I will not only ensure better working conditions but make sure the cleanliness radiates to the towns. Indeed the population is expectant and together with what my government delegate has on table as administrative plan we shall execute. This appointment therefore humbles me as an individual owing to the rare nature in which it’s done and cognizant of the Head of State’s trust in me to whom I say a big thank you. I am counting on the Bamenda people to put hands together so we make Bamenda a better place to be".
