National Assembly staff receive training to increase performance.

The Staff of the National Assembly on Tuesday, 26 May 2020 began a special programme at the glass house that was aimed at building capacities of the staff so as to improve on their output.
The opening ceremony was presided over by the first Vice-President of the National Assembly, Honourable Hilarion Etong who represented the House Speaker, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril.
The programme has an objective to equip the staff of the National Assembly with performance tools that will enable them to be productive in helping house members attain their parliamentary goals.
“It was the priority of the Speaker of the National Assembly. There were some lapses and we needed to adjust them by performing and ensuring all the MPs have the intellectual support to do their work perfectly”, said the Secretary General of the National Assembly, Gaston Komba.
Gaston Komba added that, the programme will have four modules all designed to equip the parliamentary staff with better skills.
The modules will focus on understanding the standing orders as a legal framework governing the functioning of the National Assembly. Ethics in professional parliamentary milieu; techniques for note-taking and drafting reports and summaries as well as research techniques in comparative law are some of the modules that will feature in the capacity building programme.
To ensure that the programme yields the desired fruits, facilitators such as Pr. Lekene Dongfack, Lecturer of Law and Public Finance; Pr. Efoua Mbozo’o, former Secretary General of the National Assembly; Pr. Aboya Manasse, Expert in Law and Political Science; and NdongToung Antoine who is a lecturer at ENAM were chosen to ensure that participants get the skills.
According to the Secretary General of the National Assembly, this first sequence will run up to ten days and will include 150 selected members of staff of the National Assembly.
In his speech, the first Vice-President of the House, Honourable Hilarion Etong, called on the participants to ensure that the time of the programme is used judiciously and not for leisure.
The opening ceremony ended with a souvenir photo with the participants and the representatives of the Speaker, trainers and the S.G of the house.
