Wum Council facilitates movement for physically challenged persons.
Some physically challenged persons in Wum municipality have received materials that will make movement easier for them. This is to ensure that no one is left out as far as development is concerned. It is thanks to the disability inclusive development programme of the Cameroon Baptist Convention, CBC, that the Wum Council has understood that everyone has something to offer as far as development is concerned. These gifts were handed to them by the Mayor of Wum Council, Dighambong Anthony Mvo, in the presence of the Divisional Delegate of Social Affairs and the Chief of the Wum Social Centre at the council premises.
Away from promoting disability inclusive development, the Council distributes CFA 800,000 to persons with disabilities, and purchases special didactic materials for GS Wanagwen in a yearly basis.
It is clear that people with disabilities are present in all societies. In most cases most of them are excluded or are hidden from society because of social stigma.. In some situations, there exist some barriers which could be physical, policies, or communication, that limit their opportunity to participate in varied activities. The Wum Council is conscious of this and is striving hard to help matters for them to raise their morale.
