Hundreds of inhabitants of Fontem Sub-Division in Lebialem Division have expressed fervent gratitude to President Paul Biya for showing empathy during hard times.
The crowd was served with 1000 face masks, 230 buckets, and 55 cartons of soap dispatched by the President to reinforce preventive measures against the Covid-19 pandemic which currently constitutes a major health hurdle in the country.
The event was chaired by the Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Lebialem, William Mungambo Ekema, who cautioned the recipients to diligently make use of the materials by adhering to various preventive rules prescribed by the government and the WHO. The S.D.O. also hailed the Divisional Officer (D.O) for Fontem, Eselakwe Emile Atehmbapang, for dexterity and the courage with which he assembled the population despite threats from pro-independence fighters in nearby bushes. The S.D.O also used the occasion to distribute food items donated by the Member of Parliament for Lebialem, Hon. Dr Bernard Foju. The items which included rice, mattresses, sugar, cooking oil and sardines were cheerfully received by the yearning population that has remained restive ever since crisis broke out in the North West and South West regions, some three years ago.
