Despite Covid-19 persistence: PM says all set for schools resumption today June 1, 2020.
The Prime Minister – Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute has confirmed June 1, 2020 as the official resumption date for schools and universities in Cameroon.
In a declaration made on Friday, May 29, 2020 Joseph Dion Ngute said the resumption concerns only examination classes in primary and secondary education and the entire university community.
He indicated that universities and higher learning institutions as well as students of the Upper Sixth form in the English subsystem and Terminale in the French subsystem will resume also examination classes in primary on June 1.
He added that practical modalities for the resumption of students of Probatoire and Seconde in the French subsystem and Form five in the English subsystem will be spelt out by the Minister of Secondary Education.
The Prime Minister insisted that schooling activities will be conducted in the strict respect of safety measures put in place by government to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
He noted with dissatisfaction the recent rise in the numbers of confirmed cases due to the neglect by some Cameroonians in the respect of personal protection and barrier measures.
Dion Ngute indicated that since the start of the pandemic in Cameron till date, a little over 5300 confirmed cases have been recorded and over 2300 have recovered from the disease while 145 have died.
He once again announced the extension of barrier measures against Covid-19 in Cameroon for a further two additional weeks.
