Who killed Njikwa Gendarmerie Brigade Commander?
By GEORGE Etoh Anzah in Bamenda.
Reports circulating on social media say Tim Francis, Gendarmerie brigade commander of Njikwa, is no more.
According to reports, he was shot during a patrol on Thursday 4 June 2020 at about 3 pm. As a result of the ongoing crisis, regular state-run security, as well as military officials, have been the target of non state armed militia with aggressions of varied degrees.
The groups headed by diaspora activists have continually seen the uniform officials as a great hindrance to their acquisition and declaration of an Ambazonia statehood. Njikwa like, most sub divisions in Momo Division, has continually been ungovernable with gunfire exchanges which have caused the majority unarmed population to flee to safer regions.
At presstime no official statement had been issued by either the state. However a tweet from Mark Bareta cum communication officer and a video from Capo Daniel (Deputy defense chief of Ambazonia Defense Forces ) an armed militia group operating in most of the North West region are found circulating on social media attributing the death of the official to the bravery of their forces. All attempts by the Horizon Newspaper to reach the Njikwa chief administrative scribe were futile owing to either telecommunication failures or other reasons above our prediction.
Momo SDO’s convoy attacked, body guard killed.
In a similar vein, the convoy of the SDO of Momo, Benoit Etaba Fouda Niciaise, is said to have come under attack at Alakuma, a locality in the Bamenda 2 Council area with linking roads to Mbengwi chief town of Momo division. Benoit Etaba Fouda who according to reports narrowly escaped death could not help his family whom reports say were released after but for his bodyguard who was assassinated and his body deposited at the Alakuma junction. This is just one of numerous aggressions and attacks witnessed on that stretch of road. A few months back, Rose Mbah Acha, Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Supreme State Audit, was attacked. She was on board an armoured car to launch campaigns for the joint parliamentary and legislative elections.
