The 2019/2020 NBA season is preparing to restart after the League’s board of governors and the players’ union both agreed on a 22 team, eight game wrap-up to the regular season to resume the season on July 31, 2020 inside the Walt Disney World’s ESPN Wide World Sport Complex. Franchises have been preparing for the restart after the season was halted due to the coronavirus.
The Toronto Raptors of Cameroonian Pascal Siakam have been under heavy criticisms and are overlooked. Pascal Siakam in a show said “To be simple and truthful, I just don’t care what people think of the Raptors, we are the Champions and if you don’t see it, that’s your problem.” The Raptors will enter the NBA restart with a record of 46 victories and 18 defeats ranked third in the Eastern Conference. The Toronto Raptors took the NBA by storm last year by winning their first ever Championship beating the Golden State Warriors in the finals. However the Franchise lost two star players Kahwi Leonard and Danny Green. Siakam therefore took the mantle of leadership and his fine performances earned him his first career NBA All-Star selection.
Joel Embiid, for his part, had been ranked 48th richest sportsmen in the year 2019 according to popular magazine Forbes in their top 100 richest athletes. The Philadelphia 76ers big man earned 26.5 million dollars (about FCFA 14.5 billion) Embiid was the first African on the list. The other African found on the list was Egyptian Mohamed Salah who occupied the 98th position with 25.1 million dollars (about FCFA 14.8 billion).
