Delegate decries 0.7 percent physical execution of projects in Bui.
The Second Assistant Senior Divisional Officer for Bui has called for serious collaboration among stakeholders in the public investment sector if they intend to achieve their objectives. He reiterated the need for mayors, main protagonists in the decentralization move, to humble themselves in a bid to benefit from the huge experience of the technical service heads.
Azimboh Shadrack F. was addressing members of the Bui Divisional Participatory Follow-up Committee during the second quarter meeting that was intended to examine the level of execution of the 2020 public investment project in Bui Division, Friday, July 17 at the MINEPAT Conference Hall, Kumbo.
The Second Assistant who represented the SDO, lauded participants who braved the security challenges to attend the meeting. He said peace is a gradual process and called on the population to be calm. He called for positive contributions in a bid to arrive at resolutions that will usher in some positive changes especially in the area of project execution. He said most projects have been sent to decentralized structures which include councils.
Speaking on behalf of the Chairman of the Divisional Follow-up Committee, Hon. Shey Mbuwir Tobias, MINEPAT Divisional Delegate who doubles as Secretary of the Committee, Jong Blaise Cha said despite the gloomy situation on the ground due to the plethora of crisis, something should be seen to be done.
He said the crisis has negatively affected the execution of public investment projects in the Division.
According to the Divisional Delegate, the physical execution of PIPs for 2019 was still lingering around some 16.69 percent. Concerning 2020 the percentage of award stood at 52.27 percent while physical execution was put at 0.7 percent.
The follow-up committee brainstormed on some problematic projects in the Division including the incomplete execution of electricity at the Mbonso-Mbiame council area since 2016, the electrification of Fekeng Elak and Din-Nkor-Lassin Mbinon villages in the Elak Oku and Nkor-Noni Council areas. The committee equally frowned on the lack of collaboration among technical services.
Like the previous years, Bui Division is losing billions of FCFA in unexecuted public investment projects due to the prolonged Anglophone crisis.
