FCFA 23 billion investment targets 900 jobs.
The Investment Promotion Agency has signed two conventions with two separate firms for the exploration of the agri-food potential in Cameroon. As indicated by the Deputy Director General of the Investment Promotion Agency, Donatus Boma, the investment which will amount to some FCFA 23 billion is expected to generate 900 direct and indirect jobs in the sector. He said the venture will also increase standards of living for persons involved.
“It is very important because we will start seeing companies coming into the hinterlands and this will create job openings as well,” the Deputy Director General stated.
The agency has been actively combing the business world, canvassing for potential investors. That’s why a deal secured is considered precious for the economy as both the state and the private sector stand to benefit.
“We want to go down to the benefits, both for the government and for the private companies,” Donatus Boma added.
Its target has been local, national and international investors. Beginning 2014 when the Investment Promotion Agency went active, it has facilitated some 228 partnership deals which have resulted in at least 75,000 direct and indirect local jobs. The said partnerships have also resulted in the investment of a colossal sum of FCFA 4,023 billion in the country.
