Who was Tangem Thomas?
Who was Tangem Thomas?
According to a brother of his who first announced the death, Tangem Thomas was a professed monk in Mbengwi Monastery for 19years. After he was given sabbatical, he left the monastery due to some problems. He was then invited to settle in Buea to start life from scratch.
Since the year 2000 he was in Buea where he branched into producing machines, firewood cookers, grinding mills, oil mills. But in the wake of the Anglophone crisi, things fell apart for him when he was denounced as an Ambazonian supporter to some enemies. He was ”kidnapped” in 2016 and taken to Yaounde Kondengui where he suffered health problems, prompting an evacuation to the Yaounde Central Hospital where he died on his sick bed in chains on the morning of 5the August 2020.
OBITUARY
The Chairman of communication and media for the defence team of Sisiku Ayuk Tabe and other Southern Cameroonian detainees announces with deep regret the death of Tangem Thomas at ten minutes to six am this August 05th, 2020 at the Yaounde Central Hospital. Pa Tom died in chains to the satisfaction of the prison and justice administrators. The corpse is about now being kept in the mortuary of the central Hospital Yaounde.
