Besongabang Chief crowned at last!

Wednesday August 12 2020, marked a veritable turning point in the protracted chieftaincy stalemate in Besongabang village in Manyu Division, in the Southwest Region. The ordained Chief of that village, Tambe Dennis, was unequivocally accepted by elders and kingmakers of this great community to indisputably accede to the Chieftaincy throne.

The coronation of the Chief followed instructions from the SDO for Manyu to DOs under his jurisdiction to fill all vacant stools ahead of the regional elections.

Within the framework of government efforts to have chiefs in all communities prior to the elections of Regional Councilors, the SDO for Manyu Division, Mr. Um Joseph, issued a communique to DOs under his jurisdiction, to ensure that all vacant chieftaincy stools in the Division are filled on or before August 20 ,2020 .

Besongabang chiefdom was one of the chiefdoms concerned with the above instruction. Since Nfor Joesph Takaw Tambe died on January 29 2017, the chieftaincy had remained vacant.

As preliminary activity to the recognition of a Chief for Besongabang, the six competent elders/ Kingmakers, notably Sesseko Enowmbi Tambe, from Nsebangha quarters, Chairman of the village Traditional Council, assisted by Sesseko Simon Besong from Nkpot quarters, Sesseko Bateya from Besongabang New layout , Sesseko Egbechu from Bessenghe quarters, Shaddrack Tambe Tambe from Nserong quarters, and Eyong John of Obenebangha quarters who were all appointed by late Nfor Takaw Tambe, on Wednesday August 12 2020, selected and performed enthronement rites on Sesseko Dennis Besong Tambe as the successor of late Nfor Joseph Takor Tambe, pending formal recognition by the State.

Sesseko Dennis Tambe, nephew to the late Nfor Tambe Takaw , as from August 12 2020, shall be called Nfor D.B Tambe Ayuk 11 of Besongabang Chiefdom.

Obsevers both at home and abroad were quick to intimate that God Almighty has finally put an end to a protracted Chieftaincy quagmire that has helped to polarize a great community for a long time.

Besongabang village is situated some four kilometers from cosmopolitan Mamfe, with an estimated population of 5000 people, (statistics from ELECAM). The Besongabang Airport, and the Ntenesah Basel Mission are historical monuments that give the community a certain aura and popularity nationwide. Besongabang has also produced a Vice President of the National Assembly and a cabinet Minister.

With the potential man power and huge resources of this great community , time has come for the people of Besongabang to bury the hatchet and join the foresighted and highly spirited Nfor DB Tambeayuk the 11, for meaningful development and prosperity.
