Combating Covid-19: Archbishop calls for God’s intervention.
Catholic Christians have been called upon to be spiritually righteous and invoke divine intervention to completely put an end to the Covid-19 pandemic as well as other crises in Cameroon.
The call was made by the Archbishop of Yaounde, His Lordship Jean Mbarge, on Saturday August 15 during mass to celebrate the feast of the Assumption at the Mary, Queen of the Apostles Basilica in Mvolye, Yaounde.
Celebrating the feast in the present context marked by the Covid-19, Archbishop Jean Mbarga praised the resilience of the Christian community as well as the efforts put in Place by authorities to bar the way to the pandemic. All these efforts have led to a substantial success in the fight against the pandemic with Cameroon recording one of the highest recovery rates on the continent.
According to Mgr Jean Mbarga, this success could not have been possible without divine mercy for God. Thus, for the pandemic to be completely wiped out, he called on Christians to look up to God through their mother Mary as they celebrate the feast of the Assumption. Though Cameroon seems to have control over the situation, Mgr Jean Mbarga cautioned Christians to be on their guard because the pandemic is far from over. He thus called on them to continue respecting the barrier measures put in place by the government. The prelate also used the opportunity to pray for peace to reign in the country and called on Cameroonians to remain strong and united in the face of the various economic and social crises.
“We have to reject whatever divides, separates or isolates us from one another and be each other’s keeper”, His Lordship Jean Mbarga added.
