Management of state funds.

Audit bench and MPs  exchange better strategies.

Members of the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly and the Audit Bench of the Supreme State have exchanged ideas and strategies on the control and management of public accounts within the context of enhancing economic growth through financial transparency.

Meeting at the National Assembly on July 3, 2019 in an exchange forum (its 20th edition), under the debate topic “the impact of the participation of the State in public and semi-public institutions,” participants brainstormed on how best public wealth can be protected.

Opening deliberations at the forum, the Acting President of the Audit Bench of the Supreme Court, Justice Fofung Justine Wacka, said they usually exchange ideas on financial transparency and the proper management of State funds for national development. “… Parliamentarians and magistrates debate on subjects relating to the control and judgment of public accounts, good management, transparency in financial management and make recommendations to public authorities, proposals and suggestions aiming not only to improve the legislative and regulatory framework of public finance management, but also and above all, to consolidate good governance and the contribution of citizens to public expenditure,” she stated. The super scale legal and judicial officer said the exchange forum on the topic “the new relations between Parliament and the Audit Bench of the Supreme Court in the light of laws N°s 2018/011 and 2018/012 of July 11, 2018” concerning the code of transparency and good governance in the management of public finance in Cameroon and the fiscal regime of the State and other public entities will therefore deepen their auditing and financial literacy skills.

The President of the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly, Hon Moutymbo Rosette Ayayi, said the exchange which reinforces the relationship between Parliamentarians and members of the Audit Bench of the Supreme Court will equally enable them arm themselves with the new laws. The laws allow for auditors of the Audit Bench to accompany MPs in their duties of controlling the execution of the finance law and carrying out Inquiries or analyses on budgetary and financial accountability.
