Another PCC storm looms around in the Diaspora in USA.
There’s something definitely wrong with the present administration of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon. The controversy which erupted in the last elections which brought them to office continues to hunt her throughout these five years of their administration and it’s even getting worse now that they’re in the final end of their term. This week the Guardians Post Newspaper carried as headline news “PCC Crisis Worsens” . This came after a series of write ups had been floating the airwaves locally while in the Diaspora there has been a series of storms on financial and administrative management in the PCC churches in Europe and USA.
The case of the USA is very pathetic because it even involves federal law. This is seen from sex scandals of the Coordinator, the Rev Dr Aji-Mvo whom the church authorities had been advised to remove before further sanctions are meted out to the church institution here. There was also the case of misappropriation of $80,000:00 in the PCC Houston which led to the division of the church into two congregations. This was as a result of investigation into the management of $80,000:00
However, the pastor Rev Njaba who was not pleased with the manner in the which the $80,000:00 was used was instead suspended leaving the place vacant.
The two congregations have been running concurrently and doing well. After two months, the Moderator the Rt Rev Samuel Fonki in a show of fatherly love wrote that the Rev Dr Aji-Mvo should contact the two congregations and ensure a peace dialogue then carry out the church elections of elders but it’s like the pastor had his own plans, and refused to carry out the instructions of his boss.
He instead refused to inform the Christians of the two congregations of the letter the Moderator wrote and went ahead with elections in one of the congregations.
However, when the Moderator learnt that his instructions had been flouted, he wasn’t happy and sent the Moderator Emeritus the Very Rev Dr Asana (who has just been appointed the New coordinator) to visit the other congregation and serve them communion. He willingly accepted but the Rev Dr Aji-Mvo in a bid to frustrate the in-coming coordinator’s work is now working behind the scenes to discourage Rev Dr Asana from carrying out the instructions of the Moderator by serving communion to Christians who have not taken communion for close to 7 months now.
Rev Aji-Mvo is also working behind the scenes to destabilize the entire church structures in the USA. This is an election year, this is the diaspora.
The Christians of that church after receiving instructions from the Moderator and a cordial dialogue with Moderator Emeritus Asana went ahead and bought him a ticket, booked for a hotel, printed out invitations, arranged with families for church rites and Sacraments. Some of them have informed their relatives in other states who have gone ahead booked for permission from work and bought their travel tickets for the church events. Christians and Pastors from sister churches have been also invited to receive the person who first inaugurated the church in the USA.
Rev Dr Aji-Mvo’s plan to frustrate the service is rekindling the tension which resulted because of the 80,000:00 and portraying the PCC and its leadership as very irresponsible. There’s serious tension rising in Houston.
It even puts the integrity of Moderator Emeritus in question! How can he receive instructions from the Moderator, inform the Christians then starts changing his language because of being misguided by Rev Aji-Mvo.
Dr Asana studied and is presently living in the USA. He knows what it means to flip-flop as a man of God. He as an authority, a former Moderator, knows the implications on the integrity of a church. This church he planted here in the USA. He has heard what has happened to the $80,000:00 which is the bone of contention that led to the church now having two congregations.
He knows the implications on how people will be looking at church leaders of his caliber from the African continent.
He is serving God and not man.
It will be wise for him to stay away from Rev Dr Aji-Mvo, if he wants to uphold his integrity. If he doubts let him move around and ask the women and girls, what Rev Dr Aji-Mvo did to them.
A word to the wise.
