Anglophone struggle crumbling over $500,000 embezzlement scam
Activist, Dr Makongo, backs out, citing corrupt and oppressive leadership!
The embezzlement scandal that rocked the leadership of the Anglophone revolution based abroad has forced one of its ardent supporters to back out.
Dr Makongo David announced the freezing of his activities within the revolution promising to come back only when “the people take action and show seriousness about wanting their freedom and independence by distancing the revolution for freedom from corrupt and oppressive people”. Following is his statement:
Temporary freezing of my humanitarian and diplomatic activities
Until the people take action and show seriousness about wanting their freedom and independence by distancing the revolution for freedom from corrupt and oppressive people, I won't come back!
1. After learning from IRS tax returns that the amount collected for MTTB was US$1.333 000 dollars and only US$800,000 was declared as money contributed by the people to support ground zero;
2. Considering that the difference of 500.000 dollars that is unaccounted for clearly stands out as money embezzled while our people are dying and suffering thereby increasing the cost of charity I carry on my head alone with my family;
3. Mindful of the fact that l spend my hard-earned personal money to support Refugees, IDPs, victims of war and POWs, while it is only insults, defamation and disrespect l get from the same people and groups responsible for these despicable criminal acts of misappropriation, mismanagement, embezzlement of the people's contributions;
4. Mindful of the fact that I don't need leadership and I don't need freedom more than those I am helping to free from annexation, yet my name, integrity and reputation constantly get attacked by these corrupt individuals and their surrogates without the people I am sacrificing for standing up to denounce CORRUPTION and demand accountability;
5. Knowing fully well the obstacles and challenges embezzlement, mismanagement and misappropriation of funds pose to any endeavor aimed at persuading donors or the international community to help our cause for freedom and sovereignty;
6. Aware and awaiting the people of Southern Cameroons to condemn, denounce and disassociate their struggle from all individuals and associations alleged to have embezzled funds contributed by the peoples for the liberation of the people, I have decided as follows with effect immediately:
A. To temporarily freeze my Humanitarian, diplomatic and other activities related to this struggle until such a time that the people of Southern Cameroons will show seriousness and decide to take their responsibilities to hold this leadership accountable and clean up the mess created by the sore feet that slows your freedom.
B. This decision should never be interpreted as surrender or as giving up the struggle. I never surrender and I never quit from a just cause I honestly believe in.
C. Apologize to the Diaspora and all individuals who contributed their hard- earned money to MTTB for always blaming you for not donating money to help our people whereas you had put in over 1.3 million US dollars in this struggle but it was not only fully accounted for.
D. As consolation for all my followers in this struggle and children and who continue to show me love and support, I have decided to make this decision only temporary while expecting to see change. Call me back after you finish cleaning the struggle from the sore feet that slows your drive for freedom.
The Southern Cameroons' image has been dented. We can't build Ambazonia on the pillars of fraud, blood, embezzlement and blackmail. I don't want to be associated with anything that deals with corruption, fraud and crime of any nature. If you cannot trust people with your money, you can't trust the same people with your freedom. Either you press the rebuild button now or you will be fooling yourselves as few individuals enrich themselves while ground zero is still dancing on the same spot.
The only VACCINE that can stop annexation is FREEDOM but there is no vaccine to stop EMBEZZLEMENT except condemning it and taking your distance away from it.
