MRC lawyers launch fund for jailed members.

After serious negotiations with the Delegate General of National security, Mbarga Nguele, lawyers of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, MRC party finally had access to the party’s president, Maurice Kamto, who has been under house arrest since 22 September.

During a meeting with a relaxed Kamto at his Yaounde residence last Tuesday, they resolved to launch an appeal for financial support to sustain its members arrested and locked up during the September 22nd anti-Biya protest.

At the meeting Kamto and his lawyers, they created a number of sub-committees to cater for the detained.

They include health, nutrition, finances and follow-up subcommittees.

A circular signed by Mispa Awasum, head of the management committee, urged those in charge to show accountability for every donation they get.

The MRC said over 500 of its militants were arrested in the protest to oust President Biya, accusing security forces of torture and other rights violations.
