North West: BIR facilitates Back-to-School in Donga Mantung communities
Some eight institutions in Bui and Donga Mantung Divisions in the North West have received an extra push to give education a meaning. This comes after a very difficult period as far as education is concerned, blamed on the socio-political crisis since 2016. The initiative by the 3rd Rapid Intervention Battalion, is inspired by the conviction of the hierarchy of Defence and Security Forces that education is the hope and key for youths in the 21st century. Just like many other stakeholders advocating a massive back to school, the BIR elements recently engaged in a huge back-to-school campaign with a lot to offer in benches, didactic materials, among others. The effort by the BIR is aimed at enhancing education especially in communities where children have difficulties to study like their peers elsewhere. Apart from their normal mission, they are doing a lot in the education sector, health and road infrastructure to improve on the wellbeing of Cameroonians. In the case of Bui and Donga Matung, their focus was on enhancing the learning of kids who have been denied the basic right of education as a result of the socio-political crisis rocking the North West region.
The first eight institutions that benefitted from the BIR initiative were G S Meluf, G.S Group I and II Nkambe, G. S Mbot, G. S Ndu Town, G.S. Mbinkar, G.S Tatum, G.S Mbiyeh, G.S Kakar all in Bui and Donga Mantung Divisions.
At the close of the event, Major Tapele Oumarou, Chief of Staff of the 3rd Rapid Intervention Battalion who led the operation, disclosed that the initiative is a plus in efforts by education stakeholders to give education a new lease of life in the North West.
