Anglophone crisis, Kumba killings, low Infrastructural development:
"We are wasting time", Pa Ngufor laments.

Cameroon would have been light years ahead in terms of development had President Ahmadou Ahidjo transferred power to Paul Biya in good faith and after thorough planning. President Biya who inherited the throne unprepared did not unfortunately focus on infrastructural development and the few gains made under him have been creamed off by the ongoing Anglophone crisis that has pitted government forces against Anglophone separatists.
These are some of the home truths told by Pa Peter Ngufor Njontor, CEO of The Farmers House, to journalists he invited for a press conference following the Kumba massacre.
Moved by a good conscience, he holds that the recent October killings “do not make sense".
Pa Ngufor said that the events which have unfolded in the Northwest region have given rise to situations he can’t crosslink with President Paul Biya, a man he knew since the 70s.
Troubled by this Ngufor poses the question: Where are we heading to as a nation and are we on the right path?
On the 24 of October armed men stormed Mother Francisca Bilingual international Academy where 7 children were shot dead at close range with 13 others under intensive care.
In Kumba like most towns within the English speaking regions of Cameroon, pro-separatists have continued to engage government militia in open gun battles. Both parties have come under criticisms by either non-governmental organizations or opinion holders of diverse ranks. This has kept the vast majority of the population in dismay, shock and consternation as many have been killed and posing the worry as to why children should pay a price for a battle even when all they desire is their fundamental right through which they can positively contribute to the development of their society.
On February 14th 2020 government forces were labelled as perpetrators of a vast murder of citizens in Ngarbuh , a locality in the Donga Mantung division of the Northwest region.
On the Kumba like the Ngarbuh affair, Ngufor holds that there is no justification for such acts. Hear him: "Even in a full-fledged war there are rules to be respected which covers women and children".
To him after the Ngarbuh massacre which gained public view, the incrimination would have also been made public and given widest publicity. This, he said, would have gone a long way to calm the anger of many. He adds such judgments would appease the bereaved and further instill consciousness in the minds of all.
Pa Ngufor still holds strong his blame arrow on Ahmadou Ahidjo former President of Cameroon. Ahidjo to him is to blame for the Anglophone plight as he insists it dates back to the referendum. The power transfer, to Ngufor, was not done in good faith. Biya, he said, didn’t ask to be head of state. As such "when you give someone something he didn't plan for, the chances of him stumbling are wide".
Unfoldings in Anglophone Cameroon have continually produced disaster.
He holds" if we have children in the bushes today it is out of frustration, and we can’t remedy frustration by fighting".
Sufficiently after Ngarbuh and now Kumba he adds, arms might is not the way out.
Speaking specifically about the Kumba killings, he holds thorough investigations must be done, the culprits brought to book and the sanctions rendered public.
Bilingualism to Pa Ngufor is a rare gem and asset all Cameroonians must cherish and uphold. He said had it not been the case, Equatorial Guinea won’t come knocking on our doors to tap from our Bilingual wells.
Pa Ngufor lamented the poor face of Cameroon’s infrastructural development "See the Babadjou-Bamenda road. We are wasting time. Fighting is delaying our development process,"he said.
He used the ongoing economic development strides in Rwanda as a major challenge, saying we must focus on building and not killing one another.
It’s a shame at this age of modern day society we are faced by such inhumane treatment before the watchful eyes of the world”, concluding that "Biya has to build his legacy".
