L.C.C. inter-quarter football jamboree kicks off.
For the next two months inhabitants of Limbe will be in a lighter mode following the launching of the Limbe New look inter-quarter football competition at the centenary stadium by the Government Delegate, Andrew Motanga Monjiba, July 6.
The competition is in its 11th edition for the boys and eighth edition for the girls which itself is a massive achievement, the Government Delegate told the crowd in his speech. For this he was grateful to the shareholders and the entire population and he also welcomed the presence of the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako, Emmanual Engamba Ledoux, and other signatories at the launching of the football tournament.
Andrew Montanga went on to state that the inter-quarter football competition has left its mark as one of the Limbe City Council legacies as it has been running for the past ten years. This, he went on, is also proof that the people of Limbe know what is good for them because the competition has gone a long way in celebrating the friendship, unity and harmonious living together of the city dwellers
Although the competition is a crowd-pulling event, it is also a burden on the shoulders of the Council due to depleting resources and lack of sponsors but the council has the duty to continue entertaining the population because they are a vital ingredient for peace, the Government Delegate further stated.
While revealing that the Limbe City Council also gives support to other sport activities, Andrew Motanga said the football competition is a nursery for future talents and emphasized on the spirit of fair play and discipline throughout the tournament from the teams, their managers, referees and organizers.
