One of Bamenda’s and Cameroon’s firebrand and refined preachers whose prophetic and evangelistic utterances and declarations are believed to have never failed took centre stage recently in an outburst of lamentations over the wave of insurgencies that seems to be rocking the region.
The man who is said to have been the brain behind multiple 40 days fasting and prayers in compliance with other Pentecostal churches in a bid to revive and free the nation from the hands of its Goliath thrilled the over 500 Christians at his Foncha Junction church sanctuary. In his words "nothing is worth dying for, and nobody is worth being killed for. The present Anglophone crisis has caused a lot of killings and we can’t be silent. It’s true we have a problem but it's terrible to think we must shed blood to attain our objectives".
While condemning the injustice done by the state owing to the slow pace of the turning of the justice wheels, he further took out time in his priestly office to urge the soldiers on either camps to know human life remains valuable. "Irrespective of who you are, if you aid in a killing process be it by the use of arms or through abortion you are a murderer and have the blood of some one to carry upon your head. A lot of innocent people have died and this needs to end. How much more should die before we learn a lesson? When Cain killed Abel his brother, Abel’s blood later cried out for vengeance. This therefore tells us the blood of the innocent (mothers, fathers ,children) is crying out for vengeance and this will further mean more deaths. The gateway to stopping the deaths is by stopping the killings now", he added.
Coming at a time when the SDF national chairman Ni John Fru Ndi was abducted, he further said everyman has his flaws.
“Its true he may have flaws now but to be rough handled as such owing to his age, long historical and political success story in the reinsertion of a multiparty politics calls for some dignifying honour. When David was young he fought for Israel and though he had flaws with Beersheba when he grew old his men said " You shalt no longer go to war lest you die and our light be quenched". As such take it or leave it Fru Ndi is a light not only to Bamenda but Cameroon .If he had accepted the war as a means of power consolidation, the warring youths would have been corpses. He chose peace because he had us all in mind. We as Cameroonians must emulate peace and if at all we must demand our rights let's do so without the shedding of human blood because it’s easy to destroy but it may take donkey years and decades to reconstruct. To him who has ears let him take heed to what the clergy says.”
