NW administrative authorities pay homage to fallen Bui DO.

History books have continually seen its pages filled by the sadistic and senseless deaths which have come to be attributed to the ordeals of life. Ngwa Martin Manjong, former Divisional Officer (D.O) for Noni Sub-division, met his demise on 12th of May 2019 upon his return from taking part in a concertation meeting with the Prime Minister whose objective was to champion a definite course out of the senseless acts that have been attributed to the sensitive revolution. Born on the 9/9/1966 to Pa Samuel Neba Tanwi and Ma Sarah Mankaa all of Bafut origin, he was a father of many (as per biography) and a husband to Ngwa Alice Ngongba. After his early days in CS Muyuka , World Wide Mission Mpondo and CCAST Kumba where he obtained his FSLC and GCE O/A Levels, respectively, he proceeded to the then Yaounde University but due to financial incapability owing to his mother’s single-handed efforts he fell out of the educational race. From that time forth, he is said to have nursed an unquenchable appetite for knowledge and this justifies the following achievements and duty posts to which he had been attributed.

1998: He passed the competitive entrance examinations into cycle B of National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM).

At the professional level,

From 1983 - 1997: Protocol Officer NW Governor’s Office.

2001-2005: Assistant Divisional Officer (ADO) for Mbengwi Central.

2006-2007: Assistant Divisional Officer (ADO) for Belo

2013-2017: First ever Assistant Senior Divisional Officer (ASDO) for Menchum, Wum Central and later.

2017- 12th May 2019: Divisional Officer for Noni Sub Division.

The above therefore reflects the professional experiences of a man who has served in today’s hot bed places of the current Anglophone crisis. After suffering a kidnap from unidentified persons on the 3rd of November 2018 around Oku on his way to work, he was later released but said to have suffered severe bruises though his response to medical attention at the military hospital was said to have been good. Being a committed and fervent Christian of the PCC, he is said to have served in 7 different congregations and as a committed Christian Men’s Fellowship (CMF) member until his demise.

As recounted, owing to the Anglophone crisis with confrontations from separatist fighters, it was but obvious the DO should have returned by air and this explains his cruel fate. However he is said to have been flown to the military hospital in Yaounde from where he gave up the ghost a month later. The 28th of June 2019 is the official and gazetted date of his departure.

Flanked by administrative authorities from some divisions and subdivisions of the North West region, the fallen Ngwa Martin has been referred to as an icon to be remembered.

Drawing his sermon from Rev 14:3, the parish pastor for PC Up station urged the mourners to relent in no efforts to ceaselessly call on God's intervention to end the crisis. While underlining death’s certainty as a journey of a no return, he called on all and sundry to indulge in a ceasefire.

To the SDO for Bui and special representative of the minister of territorial administration under whose auspices the event unraveled, he "was a devoted civil servant, whose service to the nation and loyalty in protection of his population and property cannot be over emphasized. The government did all its best but God Almighty decided otherwise, but irrespective of all odds, he remains an example to emulate by all young and aspiring Cameroonians". Fallen Ngwa Martin has been laid to rest at the PC Up station cemetery.
