Freed Barrister George Ndang recounts ordeal during 30-hour captivity by gunmen.

Picked up by unknown armed men at his residence on Wednesday 17 July at about 6 am, Barrister George Ndang has tasted the ordeal and bitter ointment that goes with the seizure of a man’s liberty.
“Two men stormed my home on that faithful morning and requested taking me off to a destination and when I asked where, I was told Bafut”, he begins.
“As I tried to know more I saw 2 more making the number 4.Presumably the guy who said Bafut could have been influenced by some magic or something because I sensed he did so out of error, “ the outgoing Secretary General for the North West Lawyers’ Association (NOWELA) and part of the team of engineers of the execution of the almost 4-year association, continued.
“I urged one of the guys who confronted me to stay off my son who was in bed in a bid to avoid trauma but unsuccessfully he bumped into him and the resultant effect has been a 2-days and more trauma the almost 10-year-old boy has been going through,” he further narrated.
The lawyer expressed regret that he was not protected by the state.
“As a lawyer I have the right to choose who to defend and this decision is only supported by my ability to get things clear in a bid to let him attain justice. My security is first and it’s regrettable I am the brain behind my own safety, a thing which the state is supposed to have championed.”
On the, polemics surrounding his abduction George Ndang says: "I can’t say anymore to that. There are certain fundamental principles that bind the lawyer. First of all he chooses whether to defend or not and secondly if he chooses to it’s not a public issue, "he added.
While expressing dissatisfaction on the insecurity factor which he hitherto suffered, Barrister George said: "I regret being a lawyer, but what I have seen and what I have learnt I think it’s important being one. If taking up a profession is a problem to society then I have dared to take the utmost".
The lawyer said he paid no ransom for his release.
“It’s obvious to know I didn’t offer a dime to be taken out but one thing remains obvious: my bail is being determined by the abductors and no one else.”
Cognizant of all these, it was even more strenuous for The Horizon to have broken into other details concerning one of the defence lawyers for the Ambazonia president, Sissuku Ayuk Tabe.
Quizzed on who his abductors are, he said: “I am in no position to release information about what happens to me.” To him “there are things you don’t say in and out of captivity. 10am the day after my captivity I regained my freedom and thank GOD for everything.”
