“Yaounde and the entire country should be the Waterloo of any troublemakers, prophets of doom” – Atanga Nji tells security meeting.

Administrative and security officials of the Centre region have been called upon to remain vigilant, proactive and anticipate any action that could disrupt public order in the region.

The call was made last Thursday in Yaounde during a security meeting chaired by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, on instructions of the Head of state.

Before the governor, Naseri Paul Bea, the Senior Divisional officers of the 10 Divisions, the Divisional Officers of the 7 sub-Divisions and forces of law and order of the Centre region, Minister Atanga Nji came back on the prescription of the President of Republic as concerns security in the region.

He called on them to remain vigilant and anticipate on every move from any trouble monger that could disrupt public order in the region. “No rebellious movement has to prevail neither in Yaounde nor elsewhere,” Atanga Nji hammered.

He said no disorder should be tolerated in Yaounde, the seat of all state institutions.

The MINAT boss instructed administrative officials and security services activate all security networks and inform the authorities to take measures necessary to preserve the peace.

“No upheavals should be given any chance to thrive in Yaounde,” he warned.

Atanga Nji also said special attention should be given to the taxi sector where some syndicates had reported incidents of robbery and the motorbike sector which had been invaded by bandits who rob passengers of their belongings.

“I urge the administrative authorities and the forces of law and order to put in place proper mechanisms to neutralize all the criminals that perturb the tranquility of our citizens”, he said.

He called on council authorities to effectively manage the activities of the municipal police so that they should carry out their activities while respecting the rights of citizens. “They must engage dialogue with the citizens and avoid scenes that would lead to chaos”, the MINAT boss said.

“I recommend constant vigilance so as to give no room for prophets of doom and lawbreakers who want to disturb public order,” he said.

For Atanga Nji, the 2018 presidential election petitions are over with the proclamation of the results and so no political party should any longer use it as a pretext to disturb public peace.

“Yaounde and the entire country should be the Waterloo of any troublemakers, prophets of doom and all those who are always disrupting public peace”, he said.

He urged the Governor of the Centre Region to ensure that all his collaborators accompany their populations in accomplishing the Greater Opportunities programme of President Paul Biya for the prosperity of Cameroon.

This security meeting came on the heels of protest staged at the Kondengui Maximum security prison in Yaounde last July 22, 2019.
