Louves Minproff crowned champions.
Louves Minproff Football Club is growing from strength to strength, given their performance this season. The team of the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family beat Amazones FAP Ladies 2-0 in the final of the 2019 national championship on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at the FECAFOOT Training Centre in Odza, Yaounde.
Thousands of fans thronged the venue to watch the game especially as the two teams had players from the 2019 Women’s World Cup squad like Charlene Meyong and Therese Abena Ninon (Louves Minproff) and Henriette Akaba, Isis Sonkeng, Genevieve Ngo Mbeleck and Annette Ngo Ndom (Amazones FAP). Louves’ goals were scored by Zouwairatou Moussa (8th minute) and Charlene Meyong (21st). Louves have retained the trophy they won in 2018. They equally won the championship title in 2011, 2012 and 2015. The team also won the trophy for the 2019 Cameroon Cup. The trophy for the best player went to Zouwairatou Moussa of Louves Minproff. In the relegation playoff earlier, Eding Filles beat Social of Mbam 5-3 on penalty kicks after regular play time ended on a 0-0 tie. The victory enabled Eding Filles to stay in the women’s First Division championship. Social of Mbam, AS Green City and Maranatha FC have been relegated to the regional league in the national women’s football championship.
The Representative of the National Women Football Committee, Ntoiwa Christina, expressed satisfaction at the performance of the two teams throughout the championship. She hailed all actors who have contributed to the success of women football in the country. She said the particularity for this year is that it is the first time the national champion is receiving a trophy.
