Ambazonia fighters in Ngoketunjia give NW Governor ultimatum after Communiqué from SDO.
A group of rebels in Ngoketunjia, North West Region, has banned the region’s Governor from entering their territory.
The rebels said in a statement late Saturday July 27, 2019 that they’re shutting down the entire division compromising of thirteen villages; Bangolan, Babungo, Baba 1, Babessi, Bamunka, Bamali, Bamessing, Bambalang, Balikumbat, Baligashu, Baligansin, Bafanji, Bamukumbit.
The rebels also said they’re reacting to a communiqué issued by the Senior Divisional Officer for Ngoketunjia, Emvoutou Rita Beniot, announcing the visit of North West Governor to the area.
According to the administrative bulletin, Governor Lele Lafrique Tchoffo Deben Adolphe is expected to carry out a sensitization meeting relating to effective school resumption, an emergency humanitarian assistance of government to Internally Displaced Persons and preoccupations pertaining to the National Disarmament, Demobilization Committee in the area. The bulletin further states that the meeting would hold on Tuesday July 30, 2019 at the SDO’s office as from 11AM GMT.
The rebels then started their statement calling on all reading them to share. “Share Share Share widely; Lockdown Lockdown Lockdown, Ngoketunjia County Special lockdown,” the document stated, adding that; “in view of a colonial communique in circulation, for school resumption sensitization; a special Ghost Town with complete Lockdown, shall be observed in the entire territory of Ngoketunjia County on Monday & Tuesday July 29th & 30th respectively.”
The document also states that; “Our boyz shall be at all corners with special instructions to take down any colonial terrorist out to destroy, rape our girls and mothers, burn our homes, kill our brothers and the list can continue…”, referring to the Governor as a colonial terrorist.
The Restoration forces of Ngoketunjia County shall remain vigilant in their duty to protect the territorial space of the county. Respect this Lockdown as a matter of urgency, the fighters demand.

Insecurity has greatly increased in the two English-speaking regions of Cameroon with Anglophone armed groups fighting for the Restoration of the statehood of Ambazonia, a self-declared independent country the rebels are trying to establish in the Cameroon’s North West and South West Regions.
The rebels ensure that no administrative official enters their respective territories for any pro-government activities. They have also instituted Ghost Town, a weekly civil strike observed every Monday during which businesses are down and transportation paralyzed.
