Road maintenance:

Senator Eboumbou assists Sodiko inhabitants.

The Senator for Douala IV, Minyem Endene Patience Felicité Epse Eboumbou, has decided to alleviate the suffering of the people of Sodiko neighbourhood in Bonaberi-Douala by sponsoring maintenance works on the streets. She brought in a caterpillar and trucks of laterite to fill up the gully potholes that had greatly degraded the road rendering the circulation of vehicles very difficult. The maintenance works mobilised the youths of the quarter who did the spreading of the laterite with spades and wheelbarrows when poured by the heavy duty trucks. Senator Eboumbou herself set to work much to the joy of the inhabitants of the neighbourhood. “It’s a great job she is doing. I support her. We have been suffering a lot in this quarter because of bad roads. Frequent vehicle breakdowns make taxis to avoid entering into the quarter. Things were worse with the recent rainfall but now it is better and even little vehicles can now drive through the streets”, said Pastor Nudem of Faith Church, a riverine and motorist.

“When an elected official does what she is doing, I can only be happy. I urge the other elected officials to do same because she cannot do everything alone. The quarter is big and the road is in a very bad state. We need such initiatives to ease circulation in the quarter. You can see how the whole quarter came out to support her in this initiative. This is proof that she is addressing a dire need of the people. We can only express our gratitude to her”, said Chief Ness Essombey of Sodiko.

Meanwhile Senator Eboumbou said the road repairs is in fulfillment of her campaign promise and promised to continue with such actions notably setting up a mutual health fund for the neighbourhood. The project will be launched in the days ahead.
