Since the demise of paramount chief, Ferguson Manga Williams, some 12years ago, some people have taken delight to appropriate community land to themselves and even sold to third parties. They have therefore been given until June 15 by the Limbe paramount Chief designate to declare their ownership to the traditional council or face the wrath of the law.
The paramount chief of Limbe, John Elufa Manga Williams, gave the ultimatum at the Limbe Chamber of Commerce where he held a press briefing with journalists to make open his road map concerning the development of his chiefdom. He was accompanied by members of his traditional council and other dignitaries.
Some 10 months after his designation, Paramont Chief Elufa Manga Williams has declared that the culture of the chiefdom would be enhanced, particularly the teaching of the Bakweri language. Classes have been arranged to run from June to July, while computer classes will be held from July-August. Parents have been urged to encourage their children to take interest in these classes. In another note, the paramount ruler revealed that they intend to provide some 100 bedside stools to hospitals in Limbe and also that of some desperate internally displaced persons would be provided temporary shelter by the Limbe traditional council which is working in collaboration with the Cameroon Baptist Mission. Speaking on other issues, the paramount ruler told his quarter heads to enhance cleanliness in their areas of authority and frowned at people who dump refuse in water ways and do not confine their domestic animals. Owners of parcels of land, particularly, community lands at Mabeta New Layout, Mawoh and Makoka have been urged to present themselves at the palace to declare their ownership latest, June 15 or face the law. Chief Manga Williams stressed on the necessity to ensure peace and tranquility and called on the inhabitants of Limbe to join hands with the traditional council for the attainment of the lofty mission.
