Life’s fulfillment holds old age as a fundamental attestation to success. In this light having gone above God’s covenant promised for man when he said man shall not live above 75 and if so then it is a plus Mama Yengo Susan who died at 85 made this manifest.
Her transition to the world of no return began last Saturday with a requiem service celebrated by a fine breed of pastors led by Rev Ncham Godwill, pastor CBC Church Nkwen.
Tributes from family members at the occasion likened the fallen heroine to an idle model owing to her encouraging and yet challenging and moral boosting words. To Christopher Yengo many have been encouraged to celebrate and not mourn but of course he admits it’s easier said than done owing to man’s inability to accept such a reality. The grandson said even if she lived till 100 and plus we would want her to live on and on."Down in our mind it’s not all celebrations...nobody who is normal will want to let her go. I lack words to express myself on this”, he said.
“A cream of Oku people left the village for the town and this owes to the importance her presence was to them", Christopher added.
At a time when youths seem to be buried on a daily basis he insisted they should respect the elderly and above all obey them.
The burial ceremony was marked by the presence of top administrative officials. The NW Governor, SDO Mezam, Commander 5th Joint Military region,amongst others, were in attendance.
Buried at the residence of her son, Francis Fai Yengo, head of the DDR commission, she will certainly be remembered by many as their icon of all times.
