One school bag filled with school needs like pencils, pens, rulers, books and FCFA 4,000. This is the jackpot for each of the 1,500 selected pupils and students ready for school in the seven sub-divisions of Fako Divisional Administrative Unit in the South West Region. It is a package to encourage school resumption on September 2, 2019 against armed groups resolved to disrupt schools in Anglophone Cameroon for the third year running.
Handing over the school needs at the Limbe Council Hall on August 14, 2019 to the over 500 pupils and students present, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and CPDM political leader for Fako Division, Hon. Emilia Monjowa Lifaka, clarified that the donation emanated from government following a plea from Fako politicians to assist school resumption in a war-ravaged South West Region. She said the government offered FCFA 15 million which was used to buy school needs and provide cash to pupils and students to begin the 2019-2020 school year in Fako.
In the face of the odds, the political class of Fako Division is levelling the field in Limbe I, II and III, West Coast-Idenau, Tiko, Muyuka and Buea Sub-divisions to bring back pupils and students to classrooms next September 2. Hon. Lifaka urged the parents to be the first security to their children by organising themselves into groups to accompany them to school and denouncing any attempt to disrupt the children.
Flanking Hon. Lifaka during the launch of the special back-to-school campaign at the Limbe I Council Hall were CPDM, WCPDM and YCPDM section presidents for Fako and the party’s bigwigs of the region. From Limbe, Fako’s capital, the politicians have promised to run the campaign named “accompanying children towards the path of education” down to all sub- divisions and villages in Fako to ensure that school going takes an upward trend.
