Convinced that the inclusion of every member of the society is a constant concern of any development-oriented endeavour, the government has inspired hope in people living with disability in the Tubah Sub division with the offer of huge material support. In effect, Cameroon’s 2019 public investment budget featured people living with disability in the Tubah municipality for assistance.
It is against this backdrop that the Mayor of Tubah Council, Martin Tanjong, on June 14, 2019 handed over two wheel chairs, eight white canes and a pair of crutches to some eight needy people of the area. It was a day for beneficiaries who have been crying in the rain in their efforts to be considered to belong to the nation building process.
The chief of the Tubah Social Center, Doris Manyi Asua, some Tubah Council staff and care givers cheered the excitement of beneficiaries who hailed the government for standing by them. One of the beneficiaries, Christina Musi, jumped for joy as she acknowledged that it is the first-ever wheel chair in assistance related to her disability that she received from the government.
Away from the mobility assistance, beneficiaries appealed to the government for income-generating facilities like corn mills and poultries to help release financial pressure on their care givers. They equally urged the government to enforce the construction of camps in public buildings to ease their movements.
Tubah Mayor, Martin Tanjong , stated the commitment of the government never to leave out any citizen from the development exercise and inspired them to keep the community spirit in a municipality whose leaders are concerned about the aspirations and prosperity of all. Martin Tanjong committed to continue to canvass support for those with disabilities from public and private institutions. Curtains dropped with the Head of the Social Center appreciating all those who stood by people with disability. They had warm words for the SEEPD program of the Cameroon Baptist Convention and Plan Cameroon for projects that continue to give hope to the needy in the community.
