Biya-style politics appears to have settled in for real at the PCC. The leadership suits itself at all cost, throwing the Church under the bus. Anybody who sees abuse and blows the whistle promptly becomes the target of volleys of acrimony and insults, in the vain hope that nobody will dare raise a voice thereafter. Exactly a la Biya whether every criticism is branded as an act of subversion and heavily chastised. But these distractions don't work. After this, all the system's Denises and Nelsons, and the less courageous, faceless snipers from the thicket are welcome to insult me as much as they care. I will not answer them, for two reasons. First because they are insignificant. Second, because I too am insignificant. This whole thing is not about me. Who am I? It is not about any individual. It is about our Church and the evil worm that the devil is using to destroy it. So you can invent all the sleaze you can and try to stick it on anyone who dares to differ. Give the impression that they are all covered in shit and so in no standing to call you out. But these people are not candidates for moderator or Synod Clerk. They are ordinary Christians - redeemed sinners- and have a right to hold to a high standard anyone who wants to incarnate the sacred institution of their Church. And you don't have the power, even cultic, to silence all of them. Indeed, if you are not willing and able to be held to the highest standards of probity, you can go dabbling in gutter politics wherever you want but save yourself the curse. Stay clear of Church leadership. This country needs the Church to lead it precisely out of the decay you represent.
This administration has resorted to bullying and sullying its accusers instead of speaking to the accusations. That does not make the accusations go away. On the contrary, it strengthens them. Splitting the Church in factions and rallying surrogates in secret meetings like the recent one in Nkongsamba will not help. Biya-style attrition will not work either. Don't think that your prolonged silence on the issues will tire people out and they will just give up. Nothing short of transparency and accountability will get this leadership out of the woods. And any Christian who sees holding Church leadership to account as rocking the boat, such a Christian is part of the problem, and must be bypassed in the search for a solution.
