Amba Crossing Over: Time to change strategy.

The most painful and surprising thing about this struggle now isn’t that our leaders have been sentenced for life in a foreign country. What baffles those on GZ is that even at this juncture, the so-called frontline leaders and groups still couldn’t see reason to unite as one to face the enemy. We wonder if there is any single individual or group that can take us to Buea without our collective effort. So, why not keep aside your differences at least for now? Who is that individual or that group that doesn’t want to cooperate now? At least we already see ADF on the table waiting for others according to their communiqué against the single handedness of the IG of Dr. Sako. Those on GZ in particular know how bitter you guys have been against each other but this time my brethren….coming together is a sacrifice we are pleading from you guys over there just as our commanders on the ground, irrespective of their own differences and loyalty have decided to come together because it is the best thing now to do that surpasses any other selfish interest. We shouldn’t be in a rush as the IG is already seemingly doing. Our leaders have been sentenced for life and I don’t think rushing can come out with any reasonable reaction. We have to change strategy and the number one strategy now is for us to “temporarily” unite. If reaching Buea is our ultimate goal, and you know that you alone can’t reach there, why not unite so we can collectively reach? Except that you had/have a hidden agenda in the name of the struggle to Buea. But we know that the blood that is flowing on the streets of GZ is speaking to your consciences and to your families.

Why MUST we change strategy?

Let us first of all do a small evaluation of our strategies:

Traditional ghost towns on Mondays. Has it worked? The answer is no. The ghost towns were meant to suffocate a source of income to our enemy that enables our enemy to get bullets to come kill us with. Certainly it was a good strategy but you know what? The big businesses that actually fund our enemy were quickly caused to be paying taxes directly to Yaounde and do so on annual basis. So we have only the small markets around that pay 100 FRS for tickets to our councils that is used locally to clean our towns. So while you think you are blocking the markets for one or two days a week, you are killing instead yourself because what goes to Yaoundé is annual and that business can’t complain it wouldn’t pay its annual tax because Monday was a ghost town. When we block those women with tomatoes, vegetables, and perishable things at the squares, in our markets, the pain is on us and not on lrc. These women know very well that selling their tomatoes subtracts nothing from the struggle and instead, they are also struggling to have something in their pockets because as they get home, amba tax collectors will be knocking at their doors. Because lrc knows that ghost towns now kills us faster, they have decided to sentence our leaders for life because they know we will quickly go on indefinite ghost town and it will help her to kill us the more. We must change strategy.

We thought that stopping schools will push the government to a negotiating table. My people, has it worked? The answer is no. Have you discovered that the government is making everything possible for all our children to transfer the only flourishing industry that we had which was education to lrc? Let me just give you a few measures they are taking; our type of schools are being erected anywhere in lrc and proprietors are almost getting free interest loans so far as the motive is to accommodate Anglophones. Officially, the limit of 60 per class doesn’t work in lrc again. I am sure you got this from the minister of secondary education herself. That their official bribe of 100,000frs before admission is reduced to almost no franc if you are an IDP. They now go round distributing free school materials to IDPs in lrc. They are now working with landlords on rents and so on. That industry is gradually being transferred and you know what? The very poor of the society who can’t afford to cross over to the enemy’s camp, we instead develop strategies that will come into our camp and slaughter them. No No, we must change strategy. Beside, when you are fighting a war and your people are instead running into the enemy’s camp, is that a good sign? That is enough reason for the enemy to tell the world that it’s a group of terrorists disturbing the population, reason they are running to me. No No, we must change strategy.

Again, stopping school is violating international children’s right and we can’t be violating international human rights and at the same time expecting them to come to our aid. We better say we aren’t against schooling and focus and intensify our fight to a level that security issues of schooling are left for the parents to determine. After all, schooling or no schooling, if we don’t change strategy, the blood will still be running on our streets. We all know the killings that have taken place in the past three years and there wasn’t any effective schooling. On the contrary, most of the killings now are in the villages where there is 0-schooling compared to central towns where there is fake schooling.

If there could be any effect on lrc because our children aren’t going to school, they wouldn’t have sentenced our leaders for life. It is an indication that it doesn’t pinch them but is killing us the more. We have read more of these consequences on us in other media that I need not belabour here. We must change strategy.

One of our main reasons too of stopping schooling was that the curriculum wasn’t responsive to our culture and we developed one that has been sleeping in our drawers. It’s high time we bring it out, shut down the government schools if we don’t want anything lrc and compel our lay private schools to implement that curriculum. After all, the GCE Board is ours and they have been yearning for such a curriculum in the sense that I hear they are also revising the curricula of their subjects.

The strategy of tormenting instead our own people so that lrc would sympathize with them and come to the negotiating table has failed woefully. Instead, they take advantage of our strategy and cause us to inflict more pain on our people so they can turn against us. How do you think the idea of fake ambas came about? How did kidnapping and torture come about? Do you know that many gangs now leave from Yaounde, Douala, and other towns of lrc and come to GZ and operate in the name of Amba boys and go back? And that when they come they live in hotels, go out in the evenings as people are returning from business and at gunpoint are collecting huge sums of money from people that they are Amba Boys? Don’t you think we should change strategy?

Now, what is our new strategy?

We MUST amba cross over. All the things that we were doing that caused us all the painsand suffering, we are crossing over with them. Yes, we have to cross over to go for our leaders. Someone can’t arrest our leaders, lock them in his country and we fold our arms and instead, we are thinking of hitting our heads on a stone so that the man can release our leaders. Then you will only hit and die. Our leaders are in Yaounde, and Douala and instead of going for them in Yaounde and Douala, we are thinking of lockdown, Monday ghost towns, and so on. Where will that be? In lrc where are leaders are? We have had lockdowns, ghost towns, Mondays, when our leaders were still in detention. And you think it was having a pinch on lrc before they sentenced them for life? So what new strategy have we brought in that we should be expecting a change? IG #1, IG #2, ADF, SOCADEF, we must sacrifice our ego, our pride; forgive one another now because we are carrying the fight to where are leaders are.

We will no more shut down schools in GZ

We will no more lockdown again in GZ

There will be no more ghost towns on Mondays on GZ

There will be no more strategy in GZ that lrc will take advantage of to be kidnapping and killing our people.

We are transferring all these strategies to lrc where are leaders are. Because, when there will be no schooling, many lockdowns, many ghost Mondays, many kidnappings and killings in lrc only for one month, they will talk. Don’t ask how, unity will make it a seamless task.
