Fru Jonathan leads Santa elite in school resumption bandwagon.

Members of the Santa elite, led by Fru Jonathan, Secretary General at the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development (MINMIDT, have joined the back-to-school bandwagon. Didactic materials were distributed to tens of pupils at the end of 1st edition of "Santa peace and Unity Super Cup" special back-to- school edition last weekend. The campaign was sustained by the understanding that the United Nations charter carries the right to education as a fundamental prerequisite for every one. It was further buttressed by the supportive analogies that today’s giant nations were products of the crafty handiwork of educated men and lastly oiled by the daunting fact that tomorrow's leaders must or should be school products.

In a joint message "Santa municipality says yes to school resumption, school boycott endangers the future of our children", the back-to-school mantle bearers made their role clear. Holding at the GS Santa school field it was a moment for over 100 pupils and students to receive didactic materials (school bags, books, pens, pencils) and 4000 francs each as a booster to the journey of an endeavour they shouldn’t relent in. Fru Jonathan, President Santa 2 CPDM Section, revealed the essence of the gifts is to ensure proper school resumption because education is their future and without this their future is completely damaged. He added the presence of the children is an expression of their readiness to take to the school roads and cognizant of this necessity the combined elites shall come September 2, 2019, to champion the cause in the municipality for an effective back-to-school strategy.

The ceremony was the culmination of the finals of the 1st edition of the Santa Peace and Unity Super Cup watched closely by administrative as well as education stakeholders. With a total of 8 teams, 4 sailed to the semi finals (Mbei Fc, Njimbei Fc, Meforbe Fc, and Akum Fc). Akum and Meforbe Fc vied for a 500.000 francs cash prize at the finals. After post-match penalty shoot-out, Meforbe FC harvested the drift of the day while Akum FC, Njibei and Mbei FC harvested 250.000, 150.000 and 100.000 respectively for second 3rd and fourth positions.

Meanwhile, the best goal keepers, highest goal scorers and best players were all rewarded.

Attending the ceremony were the Secretary General of the North West Governor’s office, SDO for Mezam, D.O for Santa, amongst others.

Mounting the rostrum, Harry Lanyuy, the North West Governor’s representative, saluted the joint efforts by the elites for the initiative that required time and resources. He further entreated the youths to know their duty is to preserve peace and national unity as he indicated guns only bring pain and blood. He further called on all to stop insulting those in the bushes but rather plead with them to leave their abode and return to normal civil life as the government has erected the DDR center to ensure they are effortlessly re-injected into society.

On the sidelines of the event, the youths of Santa further decorated Fru Jonathan in a traditional attire in recognition of his being the brain behind the unity in diversity they are celebrating .To others, he is the great hunter who should be clothed so that as he goes he can continue the hunt for the game to be well enjoyed at home. The rendez-vous has been kept for September 2nd and the mouth piece of the elites indicated they shall be present to champion the back-to-school cause.
