Manyu Division: Eshobi village sets stage for back-to-school. 

The people of Eshobi, a village near Mamfe in Manyu Division, are determined to see that their Children begin schools come September 2, 2019. To this effect, they all came out in a community labour exercise on August 16, 2019 and kept the premises of Government Nursery and Primary School Eshobi and that of Government Secondary School Eshobi clean. Broken benches were repaired and the backboards renovated.

Ako Tabe John, Eshobi village elder, said that for three years their children have been out of school and they cannot allow it to continue to the fourth year. That keeping the school environment clean is the first step and they shall continue with other activities. He said that they have taken a commitment in the village for everyone to personally accompany their offspring to school on September 2. Eyongechaw Beltha, mother of four kids at school-going age, indicated that she had already made arrangements for their uniforms, shoes and other needs. She is presently awaiting books in the market to buy and pay their fees. The importance of school seems to be on every lip in that community. “In our meeting, we encouraged back-to-school. When you give a child education, it becomes his/hers for life,” he said. 13-year-old Eyong Brandon Tabot whose dream is to become an artist shall be in Form Three come September 2 in Government Secondary School Eshobi. He indicated his readiness to start school for the academic year 2019/2020. With the enthusiasm of pupils and students for school, the main worry remains the availability of teachers to dish lectures. The first Assistant Senior Divisional Officer for Manyu, Emmanuel Banla Kisob, assured that the Administration of Manyu had had several meetings with teachers to that effect. After assuring the teachers of their security and serenity to reign in school compounds, the teachers guaranteed the administration of taking up duty come September 2.

Colonel Eyenga Severin, Commandant of the 21st Motorised Infantry Brigade with head office in Buea was in Eshobi Village where he assured parents, pupils, students and teachers of their security. Eshobi village boasts of a security post which since going operational brought total calmness and serenity in the area.
