Bamenda Bishops call for effective school resumption in Anglophone regions.
Bishops in the North West and South West regions have called for effective school resumption in these regions in order to avoid another blank year.
Meeting from the 16-23 August, Bishops of the Bamenda Episcopal Province  addressed an open letter to all stakeholders involved in the ongoing crisis in the North West and South West regions.
The Bishops said in their letter that all the children in the North West and South West regions deserve to go to school to access a good future wherever they decide to make their lives.
The educational system may not be the best but the children ought to be going to school to grow intellectually while the struggle goes on, the Bishops’ letter insisted.
The Bishops stressed that the school boycott is a grave injustice against the poor in society and eroding the Anglophone culture.
They called on the Separatist fighters to reconsider their approach on school boycott, encouraged the teachers and parents not to give up in their attempts to educate children despite the difficulties and called on the government and military to avoid excessive force on civilians.
The Bishops called on the Anglophone Diaspora to review their strategies in the struggle and allow children in the North West and South West regions to go to school. See full letter on Page 11.
