Kupe-Muanenguba: Children receive school materials.
Joy and anxiety gripped over 300 kids in Tombel, Kupe-Muanenguba Division of the South West Region who turned out to receive school materials donated to them by the elite of the Division. The ceremony at the Tombel Council chambers on Sunday August 25 rekindled hope among the children who are anxious to go back to school amidst calls of boycott by armed separatist fighters. The massive presence of children from Tombel and its environs, parents, traditional rulers, educational and administrative authorities of Kupe-Muanenguba Division led by the SDO, Augustin Keyantio, was telling of the excitement and determination of the people to have effective school activities in the Division during the 2019/2020 academic year which kicks off on September 2.
The donation of exercise books, bags, pens, pencils, and other didactic materials to children of all the three sub-divisions of Kupe-Muanenguba (Bangem, Tombel and Nguti) is part of government’s support within the framework of the Emergency Humanitarian Assistance plan coordinated by the Minister of Territorial Administration. The initiative was also supported by the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) Central Committee permanent delegation for the South West and the Member of Parliament for Kupe-Muanenguba, Hon. Robert Ngujede, as well as some elites.
The school materials were handed to the SDO by Prof. Elvis Ngolle Ngolle, Leader of the CPDM Central Committee Permanent Delegation for Kupe-Muanenguba, to encourage and support effective back-to-school in Kupe-Muanenguba Division. About 300 pupils and students received their consignment on the spot while those for Bangem and Nguti were handed to their respective Divisional Officers for onward transmission.
Prof Ngolle Ngolle Elvis stressed the importance and the need for the children in Kupe-Muanenguba to calls for school boycott perpetrated on the social media by separatists.
