Bamenda I DO sets stage for effective school resumption.

In view of government’s unflinching plan to ascertain an effective school take off come September 2nd, diverse administro-civil actions have been taken. Besides touring every nook and cranny to preach against boycott and make book donations to IDPs or pupils of the school-going age, there is also the need to involve parents in the execution plan. This is exactly what Gilbert Guibaii Baldena, D.O Bamenda 1, set out to do when he summoned parents, traditional rulers, and other education stakeholders at the premises of the Bamenda 1 Council to draft an action plan to tackle the future.

The ceremony which saw parents raise worries on issues which keep them away from the resumption campaign was geared towards closing the gap.Many cited the ongoing crisis and threats from separatist fighters as a great hindrance to them."We really aren’t comfortable seeing them at home but we are uncertain of what may become of our kids when they are away from us", a parent hinted The Horizon off camera. Knowledge-hungry parents rather questioned how effective studies will be for children who have spent almost 3 years and whose probability to catch up remains slim. Achobang Paul, a parent despite all hinted "though security is a problem we as parents can group our children to and from school....as collective efforts will play an intimidating factor on an armed man".

Coming at a time when analysts, politicians and other stakeholders have taken to diverse platforms to trace the origin of the ongoing malaise in the North West region, he revealed "we have far passed the level of attributing blames. We are all responsible for where we are and no one is exempted...thus it’s a collective action and solution that matters."

While mapping the gate way, Gilbert Guibaii Baldena D.O Bamenda 1 municipality, responded in the affirmative as to government’s actions in a bit to curb the insecurity worries. He assured the parents "all security measures have been put in place to ensure a hitch-free school resumption".

He further insisted the essence of the gathering wasn’t just to analyse security measures but sensitise them on the administrative measures put in place and consequently educate them on the necessity of education.

He further insisted PTA Presidents and religious leaders would have to sensitise parents of their respective schools and churches to ensure the school resumption is effective.

To the teachers, Gilbert said: "we are not liars. All security measures have been taken..thus they must be in their respective schools to teach."Not only have we instructed quarter heads and traditional rulers who are auxiliaries of administration,we have asked them to revamp the local Vigilante groups in compliance with security dispositions" he said.
