African traditional alternative medicine covers 80 percent of pathologies - Dr Godfred Weriwoh
Conventional medicine covers just 20 percent of what Africans suffer from. A greater part of African traditional alternative medicine is practised without drugs. And even drugs used for the treatment of some diseases must not be subjected to packaging or dosage. A traditional doctor will not treat persons suffering from psychiatric problems with the same drugs used by a conventional doctor. The former is concerned with what caused the mental problem, while the latter is concerned with symptoms.
I am a conventional doctor who having practised for thirty years decided to go and do research in traditional medicine and came to the conclusion that they cover 80 percent of pathologies, while conventional medicine covers only 20 percent.
My main role is to identify specialists in both domains and do reference of patients to them. I continue practising conventional medicine but I know that the traditional doctors are doing a good job and so I refer cases to them which concern them.
