5 million demanded to endorse appeal of life-jail for Ayuk Tabe and co!

The confidence that accompanied an appeal against the life-jail sentence slammed on Sissiku ayuk Tabe and nine others by the Yaounde Military Tribunal turned to frustration when the appeal court demanded the sum of 5 million FCFA as one of the requirements to endorse the appeal.

Barrister Amungwa Tanyi Nicodemus, the spokesman for the team of lawyers defending the incarcerated President of the Interim Government of Ambazonia,  Sissiku Julius Ayuk Tabe, and the nine other separatist leaders, said in a statement that the Yaounde court has  informed them that one of the conditions to file an appeal against the August 20, 2019 judgment that was passed by the Yaounde Military Tribunal, is the payment of FCFA 5 million.

Amungwa said the court has received the appeal of the separatist leaders filed by their lawyers, but has given the lawyers 15 days to pay the FCFA 5 million , or the appeal will not be entertained by the court.

Observers say the measure is intended as delay tactics. A cynical critic concluded that there is no doubt that even if the FCFA 5 million is paid, the judgment that will be delivered by the appeal court, will not be different.
