ERAMET ready to do mining business with Cameroon.
One of the mining companies that has taken the plunge to invest in Cameroon is French concern, ERAMET.
The company which has a track record in mining nickel in New Caledonia and manganese in Gabon says it is interested in taking advantage of the new mining occurrences advertised at CIMEC 2019.
The company already has a mining permit for rutile in Akonolinga, but it is also interested in Cameroon’s nickel, cobalt and gold.
Pierre-Alain Gautier, Head of corporate Strategy told journalists at the opening of the conference that Cameroon’s legal framework, especially its mining code was attractive enough. “Cameroon has the correct and adapted legal framework thanks to the new mining code launched in 2016”, he said.
In addition, he said, they thought they had the right environment both at the state and local levels to implement their activities. He said they had a long-term vision for their projects and intended to establish strong partnerships with the local population over decades.
Gautier said Cameroon’s geological potential was quite significant.
