Roger Milla backs Semengue in tussle with FECAFOOT boss.

Prince Seidou Mbombo Njoya, president of FECAFOOT, is increasingly being isolated in his tussle with Retired General Pierre Semengue, President of the professional football league (LFPC). Seidou shot himself in the foot when he suspended Semengue as LFPC, citing mismanagement. The controversial decision resulted in a stand-off that has paralysed club activities. Semengue has refused to quit till his mandate expires in 2020. The decision to stay on is surprisingly being approved by football specialists, but mostly in private.

In what was seen as a blow to Seidou, 67-year-old roving ambassador for African causes and former Cameroon international footballer, Albert Roger Milla, made it clear in a recent media outing that, he is giving his full support to Mr. Pierre Semengue and his ostracized bureau.

In an unusual outburst, Milla claimed:”FECAFOOT is preparing to seize power from the President of the Republic through football and I am not in support”.

The back-and-forth tussle between the country’s professional football league with and Cameroon’s FA (FECAFOOT) has been ongoing since July 26, after the extraordinary assembly, when Prince Seidou Mbombo Njoya suspended the Cameroon professional league’s bureau.

Former army General Mr. Pierre Semengue was elected during the elective General Assembly of 28, July 2016. He therefore has a mandate that runs till July 27, 2020 but has become very unpopular today even in the eyes of some of those who elected him.

General Pierre Semengue on Tuesday, August 3rd summoned the press and gave 3 important points: “ I have a legitimate mandate that runs till July 27, 2020 and I would defend it”.

“ I cannot accept to be bought”, he declared, saying he had rejected the post of honorary president of FECAFOOT.

“The first vice president went to Douala to corrupt club presidents without success”, Semengue claimed.

As at this moment, FECAFOOT has put in place a technical transitional committee that would last for 2 years, led by the first vice president of FECAFOOT, Aboubakar Alim Konate. Kick442.com, an online portal, understands that General Pierre Semengue is ready to take the case to the highest judicial level, if need be but FECAFOOT is winning more fans through their actions in relation to the league which has not improved under the LFPC. Recent promises by FECAFOOT president include a direct payment of players’ salaries which has previously been watered down by tte Semengue-led bureau with most clubs resorting to financial scams.
