National Dialogue on Anglophone Crisis: Paul Biya and his Cameroon Diaspora.

National Dialogue on Anglophone Crisis: Paul Biya and his Cameroon Diaspora.

One aspect of the President's 09/10/2019 Prime time address to the Nation centred on the Diaspora. I had to re-listen to the speech in its entirety to understand where he was coming from.

In essence, he is saying that the problems in the North West and South West are at the instigation of "Une bande de terroristes tapis dans l'ombre se cachant dans les pays etrangers pour semer la zizannie au Cameroun". He even goes further to say that (in essence) Donald Trump, Macron, Buhari and many other leaders in Europe and Africa) should deport all Southern Cameroonians who use Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and other Social Media  platforms in collecting monies illegally to foment trouble in Cameroon.

In the very speech, he is inviting the same Diaspora to participate freely in his "Dialogue National Pour Resoudre le Probleme Anglophone" billed for end of September 2019 (i.e in less than two weeks. (How feasible is that in the present chaotic socio political situation in the country?) To prove his Presidential seriousness; he would ask the "Anglophone (SW) Prime Minister, whom he appointed pour l'equilibre Regionale)" to send delegations all over the world to seek "La contribution de Camerounais de la Diaspora pour un Dialogue inclusive sur la Crise Anglophone et autres sujets y relatives".

I noba try my own? Anglo dem want na wetin norh?

Anyone in the Diaspora (worldwide) who believes that Mishe Fon is the owner of Trump Plaza Hotel in downtown Manhattan, New York or Mar'A Lago in Florida, should take the risk (or the bait) of attending such an ill prepared conclave in Yaounde. I can reassure you that you will not "hap l'heure" once you arrive Douala or Nsimalen Airport, even to call your wife or family via WhatsApp, Messenger or skype to get a good Lawyer for you, since even the Lawyer himself (if na Cameroonian) could be locked up indefinitely.

Honestly, my conclusion is that, the President came out, not with a reconciliation tone (after three years of silence, so many killed, economy in free fall, liquidity crisis and looming State bankruptcy) but on a War Path with his Southern Cameroonian citizens (he dubs as Demagogues and Secessionist Terrorists) in the Diaspora. At this level, it is safe to conclude that his speech was all platitudes and much ado about nothing. Dat mean say....Sans Objets.

Lucas Fon.
