National Dialogue: UPC factions converge in Support.
The consultations Prime Minister, Head of Government Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute is carrying out to get the broad-based views on how to conduct the national dialogue mainly to solve the socio-political and security crisis in the North West and South West Regions is no longer history. The history is that the two factions of Cameroon’s oldest political party, Union of the Populations of Cameroon (UPC) on September 18, 2019 faced each other in the presence of the Prime Minister as they gave proposals in support of the dialogue.
The presence of the two factions with both Secretaries General, Dr. Pierre Baleguel Nkot and Hon. Robert Bapoot Lipot sitting in the same hall, aroused much curiosity from especially the pressmen. When the consultations hall door opened signaling the end of discussions and Prime Minister Dion Ngute shook hands with each of the UPC delegation members, the anxiety mounted. The came time for interviews. Dr. Baleguel Nkot disclosed to the press that they assured the Prime Minister that UPC would participate in the dialogue. He said they gave proposals with regard to the various issues raised by the Head of State, Paul Biya, in his message to the nation. He further said UPC wants the dialogue to be sincere and in fraternity.
Hon. Robert Bapoot Lipot, for his part, said they told the Prime Minister that true to the alliance between the UPC and the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM), the UPC is going to support the Head of State in the national dialogue. He expressed happiness that the national dialogue has been organized taking into consideration the fact that it is a problem concerning Cameroonians. He said that through the alliance, UPC will do everything to support the government and Head of State find solutions to problems the nation is facing.
CRM, FSNC Consulted
The delegation of the Cameroon National Salvation Front (FSNC) led by its Secretary General, Jeanne Nsone Nsoga, handed to the Prime Minister the main points of the ideas they believe could be discussed during the national dialogue. Jeanne Nsone Nsoga said the party’s main concern was the resolution of the crisis in the North West and South West Regions and stated that if the crisis in the two regions is resolved, every other problem affecting the country would be solved.
The Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM) delegation headed by Vice President Tiriane Noah handed a memo to the Prime Minister with regard to their grievances and conditions for the party to participate in the national dialogue.
