350 families receive humanitarian aid in Bamenda.

Some 350 internally displaced families drawn from the 7 divisions and the 34 sub divisions of the NWR turned out last Thursday to receive government humanitarian aid from the minister of territorial administration, Paul Atanga Nji.

The bearer of a message of hope, love, and patriotism insisted that he was carrying out the gesture on special instructions from the head of state who wants the distribution process to be speeded up to meet up with the demands of the crisis affected person.

Atanga Nji equally took out time to assess the security situation of the region. He seized the occasion to condemn the brutal and inhumane shooting and burying alive of a lady in Guzang village of Batibo Subdivision by alleged separatists.

At the out break of the Anglophone crisis persons previously living in either Mezam, Momo, Menchum, Boyo, Bui, Donga -Mantung and Ngoketunjia took to their heels into areas they considered safer owing to constant gunshots registered across their initial locations. Through these displacements, the IDPs could rarely boast of an abode and in most cases lacked major as well as minor basic necessities to meet up with daily life. It was to alleviate their plight that government instituted an emergency humanitarian aid plan under the ministry of territorial administration to meet up with and improve the welfare of the aggrieved populations. The gifts which comprised mattresses, cubes of azur soap, tins of sardine, bags of rice and cooking oil were dished out to representatives of families at the esplanade of the North West governor’s office.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Paul Atanga Nji reiterated that the gifts were intended as a sign of love and a pledge for betterment despite the challenging moments.

On the substance of the security meeting, it was revealed after a brief presentation from the 7 divisional heads that the general security situation is under control. Coming at the heels of persistent threats from separatist leaders and fighters on the other hand, the masses had been left in fear with incessant calls for ghost town observance. Through this medium the MINAT boss’ message was clear "let the terrorosts drop their arms and confess their sins to God and be forgiven". He further insisted the disarmament demobilisation and reintegration centers have been open to accommodate ex-fighters.

He announced that plans were underway to further settle not just the ex- fighters but equally all persons affected by the war. "After the distribution stage the head of state has instructed us to do ground survey for the implementation of an empowerment plan to reinstate them into any craft or trade of their choice and competence".

The gesture which is in its primary stage is further geared towards meeting with the head of state’s vision of fairness and inclusiveness.

Prior to his visit to the region a video circulated on social media in which a lady was grossly shot and buried alive in Guzang village of Batibo Subdivision in the Momo division. The video which sparked uproar and wide discontentment was, allegedly masterminded by pro-separatist fighters of the area. To this note, Atanga Nji insisted: "Measures have been put in place through the governor to locate the actual site of her burial, exhumation, arrest the terrorists who championed the assassination and above all offer her a befitting burial."

He further warned: "God has given us life. No one has the right to deprive others of the right to life”.

Concerning efforts aimed at ensuring security,, over 90 motorcycles were presented to the North West governor alongside rain suits and other solar torches to assist local vigilante groups to fight insecurity in their respective municipalities.
