FCFA 68 Million assistance to farmer.
The National Programme for the Consolidation, Sustainability of the Agro pastoral Counseling, PCP-ACEFA on Thursday September 26th offered the colossal sum of FCFA 68,120,965 as financial support to some 13 farmer organizations in the Moungo Division.
Speaking during the ceremony which took place at the conference hall of the Regional Delegation for Agriculture and Rural Development, the national coordinator, Bouba Moumini, said the projects financed were shortlisted after a field visit to appraise their feasibility and called on the beneficiaries to respect the engagement signed with PCP-ACEFA, saying by giving out the cheques, the government has respected its own part of the agreement and it is now left to the farmer organisations to honour their own. He called for the judicial use of the money saying it is out to finance the earmarked projects not to solve personal or quarter problems. He said the disbursement of the financial assistance will depend on the good use of the first instalment, promising that ACEFA will move at the speed of the beneficiaries. He advised the recipients to deposit the cheque within 48 hours of reception.
The ceremony was jointly presided at by the Regional Delegates for Livestock and Agriculture. The Delegate of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, Seini Boukar, said this is the 9th ceremony of award of cheques and congratulated recipients on mounting projects worthy of financing. He said they were proof of the fact that government finances agro-pastoral activities. He cautioned them to keep receipts of all financial transactions as there will be a control on how the money is spent.
PCP-ACEFA is working to institutionalize and sustain the counseling system existing over the national territory for a productive, profitable and competitive agriculture. After the first two phases; 2008-2012, 2012-2017, the project enters the third phase which started in 2017 and will end in 2022 and is focused on the consolidation and sustainability of the national coverage. The budget stands at FCFA 62 billion. During the period some 2110 counsellors will be trained so as to reach some 350.000 producers. 44000 projects will be financed to the tune of FCFA 18 billion.
