Do you think resolutions of the MND will put an end to the Anglophone crisis?

The taste of the pudding is in the eating. Let us see what happens. But it could have been better.

What do you understand by special status for the NW and SW?

I don’t understand what it means. Somebody is still going to define that.

From the way you talk, you are not satisfied with the outcome of the dialogue.

I was proposing a formula that would have worked to solve all the problems, but they thought it was not good enough for our nation. Let’s hope that this other formula proposed works out and solves our problems.

Your reaction to the discontinuance of proceedings against 333 Anglophone detainees?

I hear that the decree has to do with those who committed misdemeanours which means those that committed felonies are still behind bars.

What major resolutions were arrived at at your committee?

I was in the wrong committee and so I was not paying attention. I would have wanted to be on the decentralization or education committees but I was dumped at the Diaspora Committee where I was virtually sleeping.

What are your reservations about the organization of the MND?

The organization was well done for the most part but there were some lapses which is only human. There were some security challenges and much more. The good thing is that the money was available to organize it, reason why there was this crowd.

What word do you have for those who have taken up arms?

This is a first step toward encouraging the return of peace in the NW and SW and also in the Far North. So let us give peace a chance. Even if there is something in the pot of soup that you don’t like, throw the bones away and see what justice can be done with the rest. You cannot satisfy the aspirations of all 25 million Cameroonians in the same way. If you look at the put of soup you can see that 60 percent of the ingredients are good. Let’s look at it from that perspective and start working. Most of the things that were there were really worth examining but if they were well programmed, something good could have come out. Actually the problems of Cameroon stem from poor governance and corruption. If the decentralization thought out 23 years ago had been implemented, we would not be where we are today. The bitterness went up many notches because provisions were not implemented for those years and that was a lot of time lost.
