In keeping with the road map as concerns the development of Limbe Chiefdom, the Traditional Council donated 100 bedside stools to the Limbe Regional Hospital and other sister hospitals within the chiefdom on June 6.
According to Dr. Eyongeta Divine, Medical Adviser to the Regional Hospital, it was created sometime in 1929 as revealed from archives but became a full hospital in 1984. He said the hospital has stood the test of time and is now well equipped, adding that the South West region is likely to have two Regional Hospitals, one in Limbe and the other in Buea.
The adviser of the Limbe Regional Hospital further revealed that the Medical Institution has 186 medical personnel and added that the hospital’s capacity has increased very much with the carrying out of AFCON 2016 through the support of government. He disclosed that the hospital has two well-equipped theatre, special unit for pre-mature deliveries and an imaging centre which went operational in 2016, just to name a few.
For his part, the Royal Father of Victoria now Limbe, said the decision to hand the bedside stools to the hospital was taken by his Traditional Council and quarter heads whom he thanked for making the event a success.
Paramount Chief John Elufa Manga Willams was proud of the equipment at the hospital which has given them the hope to support the hospital and thanked the medical staff for revealing to him and his entourage a lot of information which they never knew. The paramount ruler was pleased that hospitals abound within Limbe, thereby bringing medical care closer to the inhabitants. He, therefore, advised the public to make good use of the hospitals, not minding cost because nothing is more expensive than life.
The bedside stools, according to the donors, will be distributed as follows, 50 for the Limbe Regional Hospital, 30 for Bota Annex Hospital and 20 for PMI Limbe.
