Turkish Ambassador clarifies their interest in the Syrian war and presents Turkish opportunities in Cameroon.

The first female Turkish Ambassador to Cameroon, H.E Ay?e Sara?, on Tuesday, 15 October 2019 received some men of the press at the Turkish Embassy for a press briefing. The top astute diplomat who presented her letter of credence to Cameroon on 15 July2019 is mastering grounds in Cameroon and committed in strengthening diplomatic bonds between Cameroon and Turkey and equally selling the social fabric of her country.
During the press briefing, the Turkish diplomat told the press about Turkey’s humanitarian concern in the senseless war in Syria which shares boundaries with Turkey from the South. Against the backdrop of misinterpretations of Turkey’s military intervention in the Syrian war, H.E Ay?e Sara? maintains that her country’s presence in Syria is to fight terrorism and respond to the growing humanitarian concern building as a consequence of terrorism in Syria.
“Turkey is currently fighting terrorists’ organisations because they are threatening our national security and our resolve to fight against terrorists’ organisations is firm”, said H.E Ay?e Sara?.
She cited the major successful operations of Turkey that have targeted terrorists, some of which are “operation olive branch” in 2013 and “operation Euphrates Shield” in 2017 which freed a land surface area of 4000km square from terrorists occupation. According to credible information from the Ambassador, these operations gave way for 360000 Syrians to return to their homes safely.
Ambassador Ay?e Sara? believes Turkey is the most generous country in humanitarian issues as it now hosts over 3.6million refugees. She confirmed Turkey’s war in Syria is motivated by humanitarian and peaceful intentions.
“As the most generous country, we will like to bring the world’s attention on humanitarian aspects, humanitarian crises taking place all over the world, refugees and how to be resilient against them”, said the Ambassador as she made a retrospect on the 2016 World Humanitarian Summit that took place in Turkey, 2016.
On that chapter, her views reflecting intentions of her country could be likened to “Turkey for people and against terrorism”.
On to the fruits of the diplomatic relations between Turkey and Cameroon, the Ambassador said the relations are getting healthier and healthier. She mentioned Turkish projects in Cameroon and worth noting was the 50,000 capacity Stadium at Japoma in Douala, which is constructed by a Turkish company and also the vibrant Turkish private sector which is getting more interested in investing in Cameroon.
“We have been collaborating in international development, economy, education, culture and other areas and attaching importance to vocational training. Also Scholarships are important for us. We are providing scholarships for university students”, the Ambassador explained and hinted that some Turkish universities are interested in partnering with universities in Cameroon for integrated studies. She promised to be a booster to these initiatives which emanate from the Cameroon-Turkey diplomatic relations.
She acknowledged being privileged to organize and celebrate Turkey’s 97th independence anniversary in Cameroon on 29 October 2019.
